Hydrology & Hydraulic Modelling
Edenvale Young Associates are acknowledged experts in ISIS, TUFLOW and ISIS/TUFLOW, and have developed many complex models using these applications; for assessing problems including evaluating flood risk due to fluvial, tidal and pluvial flooding and flood defence breach. Edenvale Young hosted the 2007 TUFLOW User Group in Bristol in conjunction with Arup and in conjunction with Halcrow and Arup hosted the 2007 and 2008 ISIS User Groups.
Cambridge SWMP

Kerry Gilfach, Project Appraisal Study
Edenvale Young are currently carrying out a number of studies for Powys County Council including at Kerry. The flooding mechanisms for this site are complex including sheeting run-off from the hillside to the north of Kerry and fluvial flooding due to blockage of a bridge by alluvium during periods of heavy rainfall. The modelling for the project includes fluvial and direct rainfall elements to represent the overall flood risk to Kerry. ISIS - TUFLOW has been used as the basis of the project. Read More...
Darwin Tributaries, Flood Risk Mapping Studies
The Darwen Tributaries project involved the development of hydraulic models for fifteen previously unmodelled tributaries of the Darwen in Blackburn, for which the Environment Agency recently accepted responsibility from the local authority. These tributaries, many of them from small, steep, heavily urbanised catchments with long culverted sections, have a history of flooding due to blockage and lack of channel capacity. . Read More...
Monmouth, Strategic Flood Risk Mapping Study
Following completion of the Monmouth Visitor Centre FCA and the ISIS - TUFLOW model of the rivers Monnow and Wye at Monmouth, Edenvale Young was appointed by Environment Agency (Wales) to review athe hydrology of the Wye and Monnow at and to adapt and develop the ISIS - TUFLOW model of Monmouth for Strategic Flood Risk mapping purposes. The project also included historical assessment and extensions to ratings at Grosmont and Redbrook gauging stations. Read More...
Orwell Quay, Flood Risk and Hazard Modelling
Edenvale Young were asked by Faber Maunsell to undertake flood risk and hazard mapping for the University Suffolk Campus development adjacent to Orwell Quay in Ipswich. Edenvale Young developed a TUFLOW model for the scheme which included a breach in the exisitng sea defences in Ipswich. The results of the modelling were used to support a flood risk assessment prepared by Faber Maunsell Read More...
River Rea, Flood Mapping Study
Edenvale Young Associates Ltd. were commissioned by Scott Wilson to prepare a Flood Risk Mapping Study in accordance with relevant guidelines for a proposed mixed use development off Deritend High Street, Digbeth, Birmingham. This involved the conversion of Birmingham City Council's HEC RAS model of the river to ISIS. The conversion and subsequent analysis indicated that there were a number of schmetisation difficulties with the HEC RAS model. Read More...
Cavendish Dock, Reservoir's Act, Flood Determination Study
Cavindish Dock is classified as a Category D reservior in accordance with the Reservoir's Act 1975. Water levels in the dock are determined by the Mill Beck which feed water to the reservoir and sea sluices. ABP Mer in conjunction with Edenvale Young were appointed to assess the risk of overtopping from the reservoir and flooding to adjacent land for a 1 in 150 year return period in accordance with the recommendations of the Panel Engineer.. Welshpool, Flooding Flood Risk Mapping
Following completion of the Welshpool Flooding Project Appraisal Study, capita Symonds in conjunction with Edenvale Young were appointed to refine the ISIS - TUFLOW model of the Lledan Brook in order to update the development control maps (DAMs) for Welshpool. Additional survey of the Lledan Brook and . Read More...
